Artist's Comments

"My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light."

-Edna St. Vincent Millay

Pemaquid Point Light Station, Bristol Maine.

The light at this station was originally powered by candles and a parabolic reflector. The structure to the left of the light is the bellhouse.

Tone-mapped HDR Vertical Panorama - 2 Panels, 6 exposures

If we light a candle a shadow appears. The more we strive for light the bigger shadow will grow behind us.

Thanks so much Jon! I was a little worried about the skyline at first; the horizon is strangely not perpendicular to the vertical lines of the lighthouse, so when I straightened this to either the horizon or the lighthouse, the rest of the shot seemed off. I'm glad I left it as-is though, the converging angles add a bit of drama I think. Thanks yet again for the detailed crit. Love those the best. =)

Pleasure J,I think too many peeps get over critical with slanty/wonky horizons,as you can see it didn`t bother me in the slightest in this shot :thumbsup:

The sky looks great. It looks like an alien invation is about to happen. I love it. The colors and dullness of the ground adds a nice feel. Well done
